In Bihar, 43 people, including 37 children, drowned and three others went missing during the ‘Jivitputrika’ festival held on Wednesday. The incidents occurred across 15 districts as women fasted for their children’s well-being. CM Nitish Kumar announced an ex gratia payment of ₹4 lakh to the victims’ families in Aurangabad.
