Telecom regulator Trai is re-evaluating its consultation paper on licensing OTT communication services following their exclusion from the new telecom act. Bharti Airtel’s CEO Gopal Vittal has called for regulatory oversight to address spam and cyber frauds, stressing the necessity of holding internet-based voice and messaging services accountable under similar rules as traditional telecom companies.
