In Lebanon, thousands of pagers exploded, resulting in 8 deaths and over 2,700 injuries, including Hezbollah fighters. This event followed an alleged assassination attempt by Hezbollah on a former Israeli defense official. Hezbollah blames Israel for the attack while investigations into the cause continue. The new pagers had lithium batteries that apparently exploded.
