An eviction drive in Assam’s Kamrup district turned violent as a mob clashed with police, resulting in two deaths and injuries to over 20 police personnel. The conflict arose when Bengali-speaking Muslim villagers, previously evicted, returned to the land. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma blamed Congress for escalating the situation.
