Thousands gathered at an election rally in Kulgam, Kashmir, organized by former members of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami. They pledged support for welfare measures and called for the release of political prisoners. Nearly a dozen independent candidates linked to Jamaat are contesting J&K’s first assembly elections since Article 370’s abrogation in 2019.
