The Mamata Banerjee government will present the Aparajita Woman and Child Bill, proposing the death penalty for rapists whose crimes result in the victim’s death or vegetative state. The Bill also suggests life imprisonment for rape and gang rape, and seeks to expedite investigations and trials for swift justice for victims.
