The Congress party and National Conference reached a deal for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls. National Conference will contest 51 seats, Congress 32, and the remaining 5 seats will see friendly competition. The alliance aims to counter divisive forces. The elections are scheduled to occur in three phases starting September 18.
