Kerala Gramin Bank deducted loan EMIs from emergency relief provided by the state government to survivors of the July 30 Wayanad landslides. The move, deemed ‘cruel’ by state cooperatives minister VN Vasavan, affected many victims who had planned to use the aid for essential needs. Authorities have now instructed the bank to return the deducted amounts.
