Eknath Shinde asked BJP to make him CM for six months if not for the full term, but BJP rejected, saying it would set a bad precedent. BJP insisted on keeping the CM post as they had a near-clear majority in the state assembly. Shinde agreed to accept any decision by BJP leadership.
