Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has urged regional rural banks (RRBs) to onboard rural customers to digital banking platforms like internet banking, mobile banking, and UPI by December 2024. While reviewing RRBs’ performance, she emphasized increasing credit flow, particularly to agriculture and small industries, and enhancing women’s credit access. Technology upgrades were also stressed to improve efficiency.
