Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel has formed a five-member committee to draft the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) for the state, with retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Desai as chair. The panel is to submit its report within 45 days. The UCC standardizes personal laws across religions, covering marriage, divorce, inheritance, and live-in relationships.
