Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav announced a liquor ban in 17 religious places to address social-economic problems arising from alcohol consumption. The ban is likely to affect Ujjain, Orchha, Salkanpur, Chitrakoot, Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, Maihar, Amarkantak, and the Pashupatinath temple area of Mandsaur, with cabinet discussions scheduled for Maheshwar on Friday.
