Trump’s executive order doesn’t tiptoe around the issue; it delivers a decisive end to DEI’s federal footprint. Within 60 days, all DEI offices, such as Chief Diversity Officer roles, are to be shuttered. “Equity Action Plans” and DEI-related grants and contracts must be terminated. Federal hiring and performance evaluations will shift focus to individual merit and hard work, removing DEI considerations entirely. Even “environmental justice” programs—policies aimed at addressing environmental inequities in underserved communities—are not spared from the chopping block.
