India’s insurance penetration fell to 3.7% in FY24 after peaking at 4.2% during Covid, with life insurance penetration dropping to 2.8%. Despite this, per capita premium increased modestly. The life insurance industry’s slower growth and increased benefits payouts contrasted with non-life insurance’s 12.8% premium growth.
