Canadian Parl rejects motion to declare 1984 anti-Sikh violence as ‘genocide’

A motion to recognize the 1984 anti-Sikh violence as genocide, introduced by NDP MP Sukh Dhaliwal in the Canadian Parliament, failed. Liberal MP Chandra Arya single-handedly blocked the motion, citing threats and influence from the “Khalistani lobby.” NDP leader Jagmeet Singh criticized the Liberals and Conservatives for opposing the motion, while Dhaliwal expressed disappointment.
