The Supreme Court has sought the Election Commission’s response to a PIL questioning the efficiency of EVMs, suggesting they cannot handle increased voter numbers per booth. The petitioner claims EVMs can only manage 660 votes in 11 hours, while the number of voters per booth has risen from 1,000 to 1,500, potentially causing voter disenfranchisement.
