At least 27 people have died, and over 100 are missing after a boat capsized on the River Niger in northern Nigeria. The vessel was carrying around 200 people, mostly women heading to a food market. Overloading appears to be a major factor, highlighting the ongoing safety issues with water transportation in Nigeria. Rescue efforts faced challenges, with teams struggling to locate the capsizing site hours after the incident, said Justin Uwazuruonye from Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency.
