Heavy rains have caused significant waterlogging in Madurai and surrounding districts, leading to a vehicle rescue operation after it was submerged in floodwaters. The IMD has downgraded the alert to yellow for South Tamil Nadu but predicts more heavy rain and strong winds in isolated areas. Fishermen are advised to avoid the sea during this period.
