External affairs minister S Jaishankar will visit Pakistan for the SCO meeting on October 16 and 17. Pakistan invited Prime Minister Modi, but due to strained relations, Jaishankar will attend. The SCO, a major Eurasian grouping, allows members like India and Pakistan to cooperate despite bilateral disputes. The SCO is a Eurasian permanent intergovernmental international organisation created in June 2001 by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and China.
