The Delhi High Court has affirmed the fundamental right to link one’s identity with their biological parent. It permitted a woman to replace her stepmother’s name with her biological mother’s in official records, including her Class X CBSE certificate. This decision came despite existing byelaws that restrict amendments to parental names once registration forms are filled.
