India has formally notified Pakistan, seeking amendments to the Indus Water Treaty due to significant changes in circumstances and lack of cooperation from Pakistan. The treaty, established in 1960, allocates waters from eastern rivers to India and western rivers to Pakistan. Disputes continue over India’s efforts to utilize its allotted water resources.
