US inflation reaches a 3-year low as Federal Reserve prepares to reduce interest rates

US inflation fell to a three-year low in August, with consumer inflation dropping to 2.5% from July’s 2.9%. Core inflation remained stable at an annual rate of 3.2%. The Federal Reserve is expected to cut interest rates next week, shifting its focus from inflation to unemployment ahead of the November presidential election.
