The Centre has approved the PM-eBus Sewa-Payment Security Mechanism scheme with an allocated budget of Rs 3,435.33 crore for deploying over 38,000 electric buses from 2024-25 to 2028-29. The initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel consumption by supporting public transport authorities through a dedicated fund ensuring timely payments.
