Jaydeep Apte, a 39-year-old artist and former JJ School of Art student, has been arrested in connection with the collapse of the Chhatrapati Shivaji statue. The arrest followed efforts by his family to persuade him to surrender. Known for his notable works, including a Sikh soldier bust in the UK, Apte was detained outside his home upon returning from Malvan.
