Granting bail with very stringent conditions is no bail at all, says SC

The Supreme Court has advised courts to steer clear of imposing onerous bail conditions that are difficult to meet, equating excessive bail with no bail. This arose while hearing a plea from an accused unable to provide sureties across several states. The court stressed the need to balance legal requirements with the accused’s fundamental rights under Article 21.
