Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasised a faceless, fair, and friendly income tax regime, urging simplification in communication to avoid intimidating taxpayers. She praised the increasing number of first-time tax filers and adoption of the new tax regime. Sitharaman highlighted improvements in refund issuance and stressed the need for proportional enforcement and prioritizing grievance resolution.
